Wyre Mark Lodge presents £800 to Trinity Hospice

3rd April 2013

On Wednesday April 3 2013 the IPM of Wyre Mark Lodge No 754 VW Bro Captain Walter Porter PGJO presented a cheque for £800 to Trinity Hospice, Blackpool. The donation consisted of charity donations which were made during Walter’s recent two year’s mastership of the lodge together with a very much appreciated ‘top-up’ from the West Lancashire Mark Charities’ Fund.

The presentation was in memory of Walter’s brother, Eric Porter, a prominent businessman who was well known to many local Freemasons, including members of Wyre Mark Lodge.  Sadly, Eric died in the hospice in 2011 whilst Walter was the lodge’s WM.

Walter and Eric’s widow Elaine, her daughters Caroline and Jane, granddaughter Caitlin, Walter’s partner Colleen and Eric’s 98 year old mother Elinor made the very poignant trip to the hospice to present the cheque to hospice fundraisers Linzi Young and Shirley Morgan.

Linzi, on behalf of Trinity Hospice’s patients and staff, asked Walter to convey a big thank you to the members of Wyre Mark Lodge and the WLMCF for their very generous donation.
